Digital Rum to provide Orange France's M-Commerce Platform


[July 5th 2001] Orange France has selected Digital Rum to provide its mobile commerce platform. The objective of the partnership is to make m-commerce widely available to all WAP phone users.
The platform will enable Orange France to offer its customers a complete shopping service, from its mobile portal Orange.fr. The service will allow users to buy goods and services and compare products and prices in real-time.

Orange France joins the already impressive list of Digital Rum customers including: Virgin Mobile, Mviva, Telefonica and Eircell.

Digital Rum : A fast growing retail service... 

Digital Rum currently has more than 100 merchants on its platform. A range of these merchants will be present on the Orange France service at launch. The initial selection of merchants will expand to include new online merchants as users start adopting the service in ever greater numbers. Both Digital Rum and Orange France have emphasised the importance of having reputable merchants only on the platform.

The Digital Rum platform allows users to search for products and services using keywords or by using the 13 digit barcode found on most products. The platform also provides for easy and fast price comparison as well as instant purchases.

Secure payment methods 'à la carte'
 

In addition to the payment method offered by the Digital Rum platform which is based on a unique user ID and a password, the user will have access to several payment methods :

· By bank card 
· By cheque 
· Cash on delivery 
· CB Mobile, which can be used with all dual-slot phones. 

The user can chooses their preferred payment method at the time of the actual transaction.
