iTouch puts mobile users track-side with live Formula 1 coverage

Mobile technology users can now tap into live coverage of the world Formula 1 championships and the latest news and views from the motor racing circuit, thanks to a new service from iTouch (UK) Ltd (www.itouch.co.uk). The international wireless services company has teamed up with sports and entertainment content specialist, wapprofit.com which has devised a unique version of its Formula 1 service for the iTouch WAP portal.

iTouch customers will be able to follow lap-by-lap coverage of each race, qualifying round and practice session, and call up a host of useful background information such as driver profiles and circuit maps. In between races, the portal will provide the best mobile news service available - updated four times a day - on sports and business events around the Formula 1 scene.

iTouch delivers high quality content for mobile phones via whichever medium is most convenient for the user – WAP, text messaging and voice platforms. Its WAP portal already delivers global news, business and sports information from Independent News & Media; the UK’s only live share price service from Standard & Poor’s; the best food and wine content from FoodMad.com; entertainment guides; classified advertising; weather; diary; calendar and other services.

“Formula 1 racing is hugely popular in the UK. We studied several potential partners but wapprofit.com has developed the best content available,” says Hugh Griffiths, Managing Director of iTouch (UK) Ltd. “Over the coming months, we’ll be announcing a string of partnerships to deliver more live sports content straight to the fingertips of our customers. It’s part of our overall strategy to make ‘the best of the web’ available to mobile phone and portable computer users right across the country.”

“Now that we’ve developed the most comprehensive Formula 1 content in the UK, our aim is to make it available to the maximum number of fans via whatever medium possible,” says Peter Bellew, CEO at wapprofit.com. “iTouch has established a reputation for quality WAP content and developing our services for them was a natural step to achieving our goal.”
