Babel Media and Tira Wireless Jump into bed togetherAward-wininng global games services specialist Babel Media and Tira Wireless, a premier wireless application publisher and technology provider for the J2ME marketplace have announced that the companies are collaborating to bring together Tira's Jump mobile application porting service with Babel's localization and testing processes in a single offering.Under the terms of the agreement signed between the two companies, Babel will add Jump to its existing localization and testing services, which include application translation and quality assurance, to create an end-to-end service offering. This end-to-end service offering, the first in the mobile application industry will significantly reduce the time to market and costs of the mobile application value chain. While Babel will be responsible for marketing the Jump service to its customers, Tira will fulfil the Jump orders taken by Babel. Algy Williams, Managing Director at Babel, said: "This is a major step forward for the mobile industry and ends the complicated process of porting multiple language and handset content. By working with Tira, we can speed up the process dramatically and slash the cost of doing so. What's more, Jump is future-proof and we believe this will be an extremely fruitful relationship for both companies." The Tira Jump service is based on Tira's breakthrough proprietary Jump technology, which is the first of its kind to address the issues of application compatibility across Java-enabled handsets. The Tira Jump platform delivers time to market savings by enabling developers and publishers to rapidly port J2ME applications to a broad selection of popular handsets in multiple languages without having to rewrite code. By working with a single reference application, creating new versions for languages, operators and devices can be done very quickly. This cuts the costs involved with manually porting games for deployment on multiple handsets in multiple languages, and provides benefits in source code management by eliminating the need to manage multiple versions of code for the same game. "Our relationship with Babel reinforces the value of Jump to the digital entertainment industry, and also allows us to build on our existing sales reach in EMEA markets," said Chris Erickson, president and CEO of Tira Wireless. "Babel has an established base of clients that range from console game publishers that are just starting to make inroads in the wireless market, to wireless game publishers and service providers that can leverage Jump to keep up with innovation in handset development."
