Directory Assistance from Conduit[January 28th 2000] WAP-DA - Conduit Software's latest addition to the world of directory assistance will be shown at the GSM 2000 World Congress in Cannes, France. WAP-enabled phone users can now access the same directory assistance databases utilised by the DQ operators themselves. Just a few keystrokes on the keypad get you access to millions of directory numbers. The search will bring back all the listings fulfilling the criteria. With a simple keystroke, the number can be stored in the phone and be connected. Recent studies have shown that the number of mobile users is dramatically increasing all over the world and the popularity of WAP-enabled devices is also taking off. Most chic mobile users would welcome such an innovative way to directory assistance. Conduit Software and its customers have a trial in progress in Europe. The US trial is to commence shortly. With this WAP-DA deployment, service providers will be able to offer directory assistance without an operator. Therefore, increasing revenue without additional costs. Mary Ann Brem, Conduit's General Manager - "This is the next generation Directory Service. The technology jump is comparable to going from the jumbo main frame computers to today's laptops." Conduit Software's WAP-DA is established using Conduit's VAS Platform that handles all the enquiries and interfaces with the various network modules and protocols to get the information to the user. This robust platform provides the users stability and flexibility. It also incorporates multiple protocol support that integrates with various database vendor's open interfaces as well as communication with differing SMSCs (i.e. CIMD2, SMPP) and through differing technologies (i.e. GSM, CDMA, and TDMA). With this single platform, both WAP and SMS messaging can be accomplished.
