 Extensity applications go WAP

[ June 8th  2000] Extensity, a leading provider of Web-based employee optimisation software,  today announced that it will be delivering its travel management, expense  reporting, e-procurement and billable time capture solutions via any WAP  (Wireless Application Protocol) device. Extensity Mobile Connect is the  first automated application of its kind to be delivered over WAP.

Extensity Mobile Connect allows managers to track information and approve  internal documents such as timesheets or expense forms whilst on the move,  preventing time consuming bottlenecks. Employees are able to check the  status of any document submitted for approval from anywhere in the world  via their WAP phone. All users are able to create and submit new documents  online and, just as in the Extensity application suite, companies are able  to pre-configure rules to apply to the work being done on the wireless  platform. In addition, employees on the move can access all relevant  details relating to their travel arrangements from their phone, whether it  be their flight confirmation details, or restaurant information.

"Submitting accurate and timely time sheets for our clients is critical to  maintaining project budgets and shortened billing cycles. Our 5,000  travelling consultants would benefit from being able to access business  applications using WAP devices while on the road and at client sites," said  John Laughhunn, chief technical officer at AT Kearney, a consulting firm  and customer of Extensity Time Sheets and Expense Reports. "We are looking  for ways to use Internet technology to cut costs on a company-wide scale  and to reduce the hassles of administrative tasks for individual  employees."

"Our working environment is changing more and more, with WAP phones  providing us with an increased degree of flexibility," commented Brian  Mort, vice president Extensity, Europe. "WAP represents an important  advancement for mobile workers who need to remain connected to corporate  networks at all times. It is a technology ideally suited to both business  to business (B2B) and business to employee (B2E) environments and as such  we have developed applications capable of meeting growing demand. The  mobile phone and Internet revolutions are now very advanced and WAP - as  the amalgamation of these two elements - represents the next obvious step  in terms of meeting the expanding needs of the business and employee  markets. At Extensity, we are looking to provide our customers with  maximum flexibility and choice. WAP is the most effective way at the  current time to achieve this goal."

About Extensity Connect

Extensity Connect is an integrated suite of applications that automates  expense reporting, travel planning, procurement and billable time capture.  Users can access relevant Internet content and commerce services from  Extensity Connect. For example, users can book flights and make hotel  reservations online through Extensity Travel Plans, or they can access  online marketplaces, like Commerce One's MarketSite, through Extensity  Purchase Reqs to purchase supplies and services. The applications are also  integrated to back-end financial and HR systems, allowing each report to  pass through approvals to accounts for expense reimbursement. Extensity  Connect runs on corporate networks, desktops, laptops, through palm pilots  and will be generally available from Autumn 2000 from any WAP-enabled  device via Extensity Mobile Connect. -
