What is CDMA?

cdmaOne is a 2G mobile technology whose first commercial introduction was in 1995. By  May 2001 it had 71 million subscribers worldwide.

Variants: - 2G technologies

cdmaOne IS-95-A provides data throughput up to 14.4 Kbit/s.

cdmaOne IS-95-B provides data up to 64 Kbit/s. This version has been deployed in Japan by KDDI.

3G technologies

CDMA2000 1x provides data up to 144 Kbit/s.

CDMA2000 1xEV-DO (Data Optimised) provides data up to 2.4 Mbit/s with a minimum rate of 600 Kbit/s. IS-856

CDMA2000 1xEV-DV (Data & Voice) provides data up to 2.4 Mbit/s.
